Just about everyone is on social media these days. The prevalence of wifi, cheap digital phones and too many social media platforms means we are all online somewhere, whether we like it or not. If you work in the space, it's even worse. 

Some of you might have noticed that my blogging has slowed down in recent times. From weekly, it went to fortnightly, to monthly and then stopped completely! Why is this so? 

It's holiday season in Australia. Summer holidays have just finished, there are public holidays every other week and the long break over Easter is fast approaching. It's also school holidays (what again!)  and if you are like me, you are wondering what to do with the kids.

Have you ever stopped to think about the relationship between time and money? I think all of us have the dream of having control of our time and enough money to do what we want. But for 90% of the population this will remain just that - a dream. It will not be their reality.

Today I played a solid game of Monopoly with my two kids and ended up teaching them some important life lessons about entrepreneurship. Last week I met the guy in this picture who pissed me off! He also changed my perspective on business. He got under my skin big time because of all the work I had put into my business skills seemed like a waste of time. But on reflection it made me ponder what business was all about: the money or something more important?

I have finally decided I want more!  More of the stuff I like and less of the stuff I don't.  Sure we all think this at time, but what do we actually do to get it? I have taken some risks and chances to get on the road to time freedom. It's not for everyone, but if you are keen to get more time, travel, life and less work, pressure and stress - then this blog might be for you. 

I have seen a lot of start ups in my time. From my study days in my undergrad in marketing and Masters in Entrepreneurship, to being involved in Start Up Weekend and Key Person of Influence programs - I must have seen hundreds of pitches for new business ideas. 

Kids spell love TIME! They don't care what sort of car you drive or what brand clothes you wear, they only count their relationship with you by how much Value time you spend with them. I'm not talking about driving them places, cooking dinner, doing emails while they watch TV time - I'm talking about real Value time. 

"Burn the ships, conquer or die!" Hernán Cortés famously said during the Spanish conquest of Mexico in 1519AD. Since then 'burning the boats' has become a popular motivational phrase and one which I can relate to.

Below is an email I sent to Energy Australia after having a poor experience getting my electricity connected. I am testing the power of social media to get issues fixed. Will it make a difference? We shall see!

Imagine Socrates back in ancient Greece around the 400BC mark. Sitting around in cool white robes, eating grapes with his best mate Plato thinking about stuff all day. What a life!  Much better than being a human battery like Morpheus was.

Recently I was working with a large company to rebrand all of their top executives. The type of engagement I really love as we get the whole team looking awesome at once. After we had just finished the photoshoot and were working our way through their biographies we were told that one of the top staff members had left to go to another company. He was a great guy so I made a mental note to keep in touch.
